Death and funerals in christianity
Christians believe that when you die, your soul remains alive and you pass into the afterlife, or be Resurrected like Jesus did. God will decide whether you go into heaven or hell depending on how many sins you have commited, and if they have been repented or not. Before death, to help them on their journey to the afterlife, they are anointed with a cross and candles are lit.
When people die, the priest minister will often come and sit with the deceased and his/her relatives and say prayers so they can pray for them too. The funeral is the last time for people to say goodbye. Prayers and bible passages are read, and often hymns are sung. The body is either cremated or buried in the churchyard with a stone marking or a plaque.
